2025.3.7 Islamist men burn 14-year-old Scheduled Caste girl with acid, force-feed meat, and subject her to brutal gang-rape for days; Moradabad, UP
In a horrifying case of brutality, a 14-year-old Scheduled Caste (SC) girl from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad was allegedly abducted, held captive for several days, and subjected to inhumane torture, including physical assault and forced consumption of food against her religious beliefs. According to the police, the girl was repeatedly assaulted by four Islamist men during her captivity. The accused allegedly burned her skin with acid, and inflicted further psychological and physical abuse.
As per Aaj Tak, the incident came to light after the victim’s family lodged a complaint detailing the extreme cruelty she faced. The complaint states that on January 2, 2025, while the girl was on her way to a tailor, she was forcibly taken by the accused in a vehicle. She was reportedly drugged to render her unconscious and taken to a secluded location where the abuse began. For days, she endured repeated assaults while her captors inflicted deliberate physical harm, including pouring acid on her hand to destroy a religious symbol. When she asked for food, the accused allegedly forced her to consume meat against her will.
Following the complaint, the Bhagatpur Police Station registered a case against four accused—Salman, Zubair, Rashid, and Arif—under multiple serious charges, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjay Kumar Panchal confirmed that one of the accused has been arrested, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the others.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with political leaders and civil society condemning the brutality. Samajwadi Party leader Ashutosh Verma described the case as a shameful reminder of the vulnerability of marginalized communities. He criticized the ruling government for failing to protect SC girls and questioned why such heinous crimes continue despite repeated promises of justice.
Verma further called for a thorough investigation into the physical and emotional abuse inflicted on the victim, demanding the harshest punishment for the perpetrators. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has faced intense scrutiny, with demands for swift legal action and better protection for Hindu girls.
Authorities have assured the public that the investigation is being pursued with urgency and that those responsible for this horrific crime will face the full force of the law.
Moradabad has become a hub for brutal Islamist acts. Recently, a religious conversion racket operated by Hina was busted, where her husband Mustafa allegedly pressured Hindu women to convert. Therefore, the police and government authorities should remain vigilant in the Moradabad area to prevent further escalation and crimes against Hindu girls.

A police officer said, “They had been in contact for the past one and a half years and would meet regularly, in secret, outside the area. Locals caught them multiple times and informed the girl’s parents, who warned her against meeting him.”
Recently, the victim stopped meeting the man. However, around 10.30 pm on March 2, he arrived outside her house. He called her outside, and they got into an argument. The accused had brought a bottle of petrol with him, and in a fit of rage, he threw petrol on her and set her ablaze. 2025.3.4 Mumbai: 32-year-old limping thief caught after months-long train robbery spree; 2 jewellers also held
Notorious robber used slow movements as cover to steal from women on express trains; two jewellers from Zaveri Bazar also arrested
A trio involved in thefts targeting women on express trains since November has been arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP). The prime accused, Mahesh Arun Ghag, 32, who walks with a limp, would steal purses, gold, and mobile phones before slipping away unnoticed. His accomplices, Tanaji Shivaji Mane, 45, and Nitin Kishan Yele, 44, jewellers from Zaveri Bazar, bought the stolen gold. A total of 108 grams of gold were recovered from them, worth over Rs 8.64 lakh.
Explaining the modus operandi, Senior Inspector Vijay Khedkar of the Crime Branch said, “The suspect would walk slowly inside express trains at night, steal valuables at an unhurried pace, and then get down at Kalyan railway station in the same manner. The other two accused, gold jewellery dealers from Zaveri Bazar in south Mumbai, would buy the stolen gold jewellery from Mahesh.”
The entire operation was led by the Crime Branch Unit 3 of Kalyan under the GRP. Since November, the police had received three complaints from women passengers about missing purses, handbags, mobile phones, and gold ornaments. However, the thieves operated swiftly, disappearing without a trace, making it difficult for victims to identify them.
Two cases were registered at Vasai Road (GRP) and one with Kalyan GRP, following which the Crime Branch initiated an investigation. The primary accused, the one who was stealing from the train coaches, was the most difficult to identify as compared to the other two.
“It took weeks to identify a suspect because, initially, the CCTV footage from railway stations didn’t reveal anything suspicious. We then broadened our focus to include even seemingly ordinary individuals. That’s when we noticed a heavily built man present at all three locations at the time of the thefts,” said a police officer.
“The suspect turned out to be a nearly disabled man with a heavy build, walking with a limp. Even after stealing an entire bag from a victim, he moved slowly, making it unlikely for anyone to suspect him. That was his cover.”
The cops discovered that the suspect was a history-sheeter with multiple cases of similar robberies. Before the new wave of crimes began in November, the suspect—identified as Mahesh, also known as Vicky—had been lodged in jail. The primary accused, Vicky, was found with cash that he made selling gold and other items, along with two Apple Iphones worth Rs 90,000.
Police officials added that Vicky suffers from a serious ailment in his leg and is in constant need of money, which is one of the key reasons he continues to steal valuables. Railway stations and trains are his primary areas of operation, particularly trains, as they have fewer CCTV cameras inside. Khedkar further stated that in newer trains, CCTV cameras installed at the entry points near the doors played a crucial role in helping the police track down Vicky and bust his criminal activities.
2025.3.3 Mumbai: NRI doctor duped of Rs 9.7 lakh in online bank fraud
The doctor returned to India on February 19 and filed a complaint with the Bandra Cyber Cell on February 25
A US-based NRI heart surgeon, who had opened a savings account with a nationalised bank in Mumbai’s Andheri two years ago, became a victim of online bank fraud, losing over Rs 9 lakh.
According to sources, the 65-year-old doctor identified as Ali Khalid Hussain had transferred all his life savings to his Indian bank.
According to the doctor, while he was in the US in January this year, he received a message notifying him that Rs 9,77,626 had been withdrawn from his account through various online transactions.
Shocked, he immediately contacted the bank but did not receive a satisfactory response. Following the incident, he promptly transferred all his remaining money to his US-based account. Concerned about the security of his remaining funds, he immediately contacted his relationship manager, who then instructed the bank to freeze the account.
The doctor returned to India on February 19. On February 25, he approached the cybercrime department and registered a complaint with the Bandra Cyber Cell regarding the alleged fraud. He was then directed to Oshiwara police station, who lodged a fraud case based on his complaint.
Speaking to mid-day, the doctor revealed that on January 18, at 6.35 am IST (4.15 pm US time), he received a message on his mobile phone regarding a transaction. Upon further checking, he discovered similar messages on January 17, indicating multiple transactions totaling Rs 9 lakh.
“I neither shared any OTP nor any banking details with anyone, yet money was fraudulently transferred from my account. Since I had no control and trust over the bank’s security system, I decided to transfer all my remaining funds from my Indian bank account to my US bank account for safety,” he added.
“Based on the complaint, we have registered a case under various sections of the BNS and IT Act. Further investigation is underway,” said an officer from the Oshiwara police station.
