2025.2.5 Five Indonesians charged with murder
Five Indonesian nationals were arrested and charged yesterday by the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Court for allegedly murdering a fellow countryman by throwing the victim off the third floor of a casino in Poipet city on the Cambodian-Thai border.
The incident took place at about 11 pm on Sunday at a casino in Kbal Spean 1 village, O’Chrov commune, Banteay Meanchey province’s Poipet city.
The suspects have been identified as Tommy Febry Mahulette, 29; Hudlanto Amad, 30; Gery Cahyadi, 28; and Nico Andreas, 30, while the fifth suspect is a woman, Wiriani Nico, 26. The victim has been identified as Pid Nhartono, 37.
The suspects were charged with murder and face a jail term of between 10 and 15 years each if convicted.
They were all employed by the casino where the incident took place and live in Poipet city.
Major Sam Sovannareth, a Deputy Chief of the Poipet City Police, said yesterday that on Sunday night, police received a report from a local villager that a foreign man was thought to have committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of the casino.
After receiving the report, the police went to the location where the victim was found lying on the road near the casino.
Maj Sovannareth said that the investigation of the incident found CCTV footage showing the suspects throwing the victim from a third-floor room of the casino.
He added that based on the CCTV recording, the suspects were later arrested on Monday at their rental houses in Poipet city.
“During police questioning, the five suspects confessed that on the day of the incident, they had a verbal argument with the victim and fought with each other,” Maj Sovannareth said. “They claimed that the victim tried to escape through a window on the third floor of the casino, but fell to his death.”
Firefighters are currently battling a fire at a nightclub in central Phnom Penh, which started at around 10.30am this morning.
The fire is taking place at Midnight Club, located in Sangkat Dangkor, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh.
According to reports from the scene, expert law enforcement forces are currently intervening to rescue people, while there are also people injured in the incident.

ក្នុងឯកសារនោះបានបញ្ជាក់ថា សហរដ្ឋអាមេរិកស្នើឲ្យរដ្ឋាភិបាលបរទេសចាត់វិធានការសមស្របដើម្បីបញ្ជាក់សញ្ជាតិរបស់ជនដែលសង្ស័យ រួមមានការសម្ភាស ការចេញឯកសារធ្វើដំណើរទាន់ពេល និងទទួលយកការវិលត្រឡប់របស់ជនជាតិរបស់ពួកគេ។
ឯកសារដដែលបានបញ្ជាក់ថា ប្រទេសជិតខាងកម្ពុជាក៏មានក្នុងបញ្ជីនោះផងដែរ ដោយថៃ មាន ៦១៩នាក់ ឡាវ មាន ៤៨៥០នាក់ និងវៀតណាម មាន ៨៦៧៥នាក់។
